didn't want to dirty up the game thread, and I think there might be a need (at least by me) to occassionaly ask about various rules and/or abilities, especially since I don't have any of the books.
so first up; in the current game thread, I took a covering action and as far as I know there is no official rule for covering fire, so I propose the following rule, which I've used to great success in D20 Modern games, which is just a slight variation of Aid Another. Basically the only difference is instead of you having to threaten an opponent, you must instead be within firing distance of them and the DC is 15 instead of 10. In D20 Modern it works well with the automatic fire rules, allowing you to lay down suppressive fire over an area. But I don't know if Star Wars Saga uses those rules.
oh also, I allowed Aid Another actions to be part of an attack action, so you could make multiples in a round if you wanted, instead of it being a Standard Action all by itself, didn't think it was worth the entire round of actions for a measly +2 to AC or Attack, especially at higher levels.
so anyways, just a thought _________________ So's Your Face! |

With standard autofire rules, you discharge 10 shots, and fill a 2x2 area with blasterfire (which is basically the corridor width; you're covering a cross section); the attacker makes an attack roll, and if you wander into the firezone, if it beats your Reflex Defense, you take full damage; if it's below your Defense, you still take half damage (barring special Feats/Talents).
Hence, no sane person will just charge down a corridor, since even half damage from a Blaster Rifle will down most NPC's.
Aid Another still takes an attack action, since certain classes have Talents that can make them give better bonuses (a Noble can get to +5 bonus every round, and a Jedi can use a Force point to give someone a +10 bonus for one round, if they buy the right Talents) |

oh, good to see they actually included them, well nevermind then, that's pretty good.
now for a question; what does the Force skill do? I know it activates your Force powers, but apparently its a cool jedi sense power as well. Anything else? _________________ So's Your Face! |

It can:
Put you into a Force Trance (weak form of hibernation)
Slowly move a light object (less than 5 kgs)
Search your feelings (weak clairvoyance)
Sense other Force Users (can be hidden from)
Sense surroundings (what Al's been doing a lot of)
Simple telepathy |

aw shucks
well good to know anyway.
beyond game balance though, which I can understand, do they give a reason why no use inside armor? I can buy DnD's somantic argument for spellcasters, but Force use always seemed to me like it would ignore such things. _________________ So's Your Face! |

Even though my Common Sense would prevent me from doing this: With the Evasion Talent, my character would technically be immune (wouldn't take damage) correct? As long as they didn't actually hit my Ref Defense. |

Yes.
Hence why you're heroes. Or villians. Time will tell. |

Yeah, cause it's not like a 6'-6" asthmatic with a rainbow lightbrite on his chest, in ornate armor, ever used the Force... |

Ok, we may have our first House Rule. Technically, for Force Disarm to work, it needs to beat the opponents Reflex Save by 10. It's now being changed from "Reflex Defense+10" to "touch Reflex Defense+10", which means that Armor bonuses go away. |

I really did.
One of my favorite Sith builds in KOTOR I & II, is the "armored" version.
I love dual wielding red lightsabers, in Cassus Fett's shiny heavy armor! |

I went with the "gets winded if you so much as look at him funny but is so stupidly fast that armor would only serve to literally lower his protection due to excessive agility"
Let me use guns rather nicely too. |

He's a slippery SOB to hit if he's in melee combat. If you had fired you DEFINITELY would have hit her before ever hitting Tas. |

No, I have been in a Campaign of Novastar's before. So this stems from that. I start shooting at bad guys, maybe 50 meters away. Jedi, who only have lightsabers run into Hand to Hand Combat. Because I deem them stupid (as they can see that I am shooting at bad guys), I continue shooting. Then hitting the Jedi! |

And Al has a Talent that makes him -10 to be hit with ranged attacks in melee, so he's taken that into account! |

Standard penalty is -5. I have a talent that further increases that penalty by -5 so I have a total of -10 to being hit by ranged fire while I'm in melee. |

well that seems like the firing into melee cover bonus from 3.x. You used to be able to take a -4 penalty to shoot safely into melee with your buddies, which you could ignore with Precise Shot. So I was wondering if they got rid of that "safety fire" option, cause if not you should be able to shoot into melee without fear of hitting a party memeber. _________________ So's Your Face! |

Nope.
Weapons fire into a melee is dangerous. |
