I thought Danny was going for Combat Engineer?

As for me I'm going Battloid Ace with either my MOS being Sapper (my first choice) or Combat Specialist (my stats make more sense for this MOS)

Daniel is also going for Combat Engineer -- however, considering the skills at a Combat Engineers disposal and the missions you all are likely to be on, there is absolutely nothing wrong with having two of them.

OK, just to give you a break down on the other styles of Destroids (so you can see if one sings to you).

Gladiator (I remember the Robotech names better than the Macross names) - two fully functional hands, and medium damage weaponry to boot.

Excalibur - one fully functional hand, and a nasty gun arm and medium range weaponry to boot.

Raidar X - no functional hands, long long range laser weaponry

Spartan - no functional hands (those things are useless!) and a crap ton of missiles, but once the missiles are gone you're in trouble.

MAC Monster - slooooooooooooow. Pretty useless for this type of game, but tons of damage

There are multiple versions of all of those Destroids, but that's the basic gist behind them. Specifics can be keyed in based on style.

Southern Cross Battloids - smaller, faster, fully functional hands, but not as powerful.

Zentraedi Officer's Pod - no real hands to speak of, but a nice little beast. There are versions for full sized and micronized Zentraedi.

Zentraedi Male Power Armor - Just say no.

There's a couple of other hybrid Destroids from the Strike Force book, If you don't see something that grabs you here, I'll dig those up.

Two personal notes.
1: I tend to prefer the REF Excalibur (the Macross II version of the Excalibur has no functional hands, but four massive guns....it's what Al was talking about playing, till he decided to stick with a Valkyrie)

2: This may make some people crazy, and the engineering reality behind it is pure bullshit, but I tend to take the Spartan and the Raidar X and merge them into one better Destroid. It carriers fewer missiles than the Spartan, and has a shorter range than the Raidar X with its lasers, but I feel its survivability by being both in one is about 10x either of the original models. If that sounds interesting to you and no one throws their hands up in the air and screams, that's an option. But you have no hands, or even arms really, in any of those three destroids. You've got legs and a chest, and two weapon fixtures where your arms would be, in any of the three.

OK, as of right now we're looking at two technical officers (both combat engineers), two military specialists (one commander, one special forces), and one battloid/destroid pilot. I'd recommend Medical Officer, officially, out of those two. But by all means, Comm is still perfectly viable.

Looks like my in the field NPC is going to be a pure Veritech pilot. I find great humor in this.

I'll go with the Medical Officer then.

Your lives are now all in my very capable hands!

If you go for some type of Zentraedi hybrid you don't get the default 3D6. Beyond that it's a matter of a: you rolling under the honor system, or b: I roll for you, and you get bonuses.

I'll be working on making a Combat Engineer this week and sticking with base human. Did you want to roll up the stats for me Marrow? My friend is dropping the book off tonight so I should be able to get it done in the next day or so.

I guess of those I like the Excalibur, since I think I'd need some sort of manipulator to be a Sapper. I'll look up some pics on them later though to confirm, as coolness factor is always the prime consideration when picking mecha, and cup holders.

ewwwww. pretty. Though I can't tell from the pic, does it have a left hand, I couldn't tell if that is a robo-fist (good for robofisting) or a letter box missile launcher.

That's the wrong version Cyber. That's the Macross era RDF Excalibur with two big guns and no hand, not the REF Sentinels era one that actually has a hand.

thanks Al, that gives me at least an idea.

that's a hard choice; the use of a hand, or flamethrowers...I think this is going to require contacting dark and maelovelent spirits of despair and torment and seeking their infernal wisdom.

let's see, I'm going to need a animal sacrifice...

So Al, do you want chicken or steak? Razz
