Bringing all of this sidebar stuff into the main game area, as it may soon impact the rest of you.

This will replace Game Thread 1 entirely once you all have dealt with your present situation and joined up with Bones and Starscream.

Figure this is a good point to split Starscream and Bones side mission into pm's. (it's also easier to nuke the thread this way, in case c/o Welkin gives us contrary orders). For sake of convenience, since there aren't multi person pm's in this version of phpbb, I'll just handle Mitsubishi dialogue as necessary under this account.

Cutting a straight line towards the beacon, and in the process avoiding the coastline and the Invid infested ocean, the two Veritechs make good time, coming within sensor range of the beacon within a mere forty-five minutes. There's a definite Invid presence up ahead, but more importantly is what they're buzzing around.

amongst the other human ships, there were fifty capital class ships fully constructed by the UEEF that accompanied the SDFs and the Zentraedi ships in the missing First Contact Fleet.

You two have just found one of them, or half of one, anyway. It appears to have exited fold space with half of it materializing inside the planet itself, the aft section sticking out of the earth straight up like a skyscraper.

A heavily gutted, Invid infested skyscraper. Welcome to the sad fate of the UEEF Integrity.

At present, they seem to be taking bodies out of it...but those bodies don't seem human. Humanoid, but not human!

So noted.

Silence, long enough that you'd almost think about asking again, or simply giving up, when you get a response. It sound distant, almost like the speaker was high. "Is anyone out there..."

"Who is this? Identify yourself."

((At some point I am going to have to radio Welkin with the situation.))

A few rounds of 'tweak the sensors' later..."Thermal's a waste, this things read warm, but I've got no baseline for comparison. They're not even twitching though, so I'm going with 'probably not alive'. Hold on, let me zoom in for a better look at 'em." A few moments later, "They look like...cat people? Big black furred cat people. Weird."

"Says the thirty foot tall giant who's shrunk to human size" Bones mutters to himself, off comm.

"Roger, sir. Starscream, want to just make our own dropsite and knock down some trees, or risk heading back east towards the coast and hoping this jungle breaks up?"

((Welkin and the rest of Theta will be traveling North or Northeast just to reach the Integrity depending on how long they were tied up with matters in GT 1.0, so keep that in mind when you answer, Starscream))

Again, there was silence over the comm for so long that you'd almost forgotten you asked, when, in that same distant voice, "Identify yourself."

And then a few silent prayers run through your head for the glory of Stealth Alphas and Valkyries that protect against conventional radar as well as Invid Sensors, as your ship computer flashing up a warning that something just turned on the Integrity's radar system.

*Speaking to Bones*

"Th'hell? Pretty sure I already did that.

*slight pause*

"Alright, secure channels from here on out, and watch out for incoming interceptors. Let's get out of sight, like five minutes ago."

*Sets up a secure transmission to Welkin*

"Sir, we have potential trouble here. Whoever that is on the emergency channel, they are definately not UEEF. But more importantly, Integrity's radar is operational -- and active."

"Negative on the coast. Let's head a bit further South to avoid that radar, and we'll make due with what we have. And let's make sure that where ever we find that we have an avenue of retreat in the direction of the Southern Cross. Two on two million are odds even I don't wanna press."

About fifteen miles south of the Integrity, Bones and Starscream (who I'm going to assume both swapped back to Jet mode for a speedy getaway) come across a clearing, of sorts. An intense fire fight has occurred, strong enough that a few acres of jungle have burned away, though a good number of twisted, burnt stumps remain.

Sensor wise, it reads as being clear -- as does a good couple miles of jungle in any direction around it.

"So...massacre, or think those things actually put up a fight against the 'Vid?" Bones asks as he swaps to Battloid mode after doing a circuit around the clearing. "Hey Screamer, once you land are you swapping to the Cyclone, or sticking with the Alpha for now?"

"Probaby the last stand of whatever was left of Integrity. But at least it provides us a clearing. We'll set down here and keep to the edges of the jungle while we wait for the others."

"And we'll stay in the Alpha's incase we have to book it out of here, but transform into battloid mode so if we need to duck into the trees it'll be a bit easier. We can also begin to organize a perimeter."

Things shall proceed peacefully until everyone meets up at the burned out chunk of jungle serving as our campsite.

And...begin!

Bones and I will have the perimeter set in advance of your arrival.

Well, I continue flying in blissful ignorance, neither knowing where we're going (just following the CO), nor what awaits us there...

I'm definitely mentally reviewing how to set trip-wire grenade traps however. No black jungle cat-man's gonna dine on my innards tonight!

(OOC: Are we currently actively scanning, Al, or just using passive sensor systems, as SOP?)

All pilots make it to the cleared landing site near the Integrity's crash site where Jester & Marrow already are. I don't want to issue any orders beyond land & setup so every player gets a chance to go nuts....or do little.))

Deehai spends the time steadily cursing the parentage of Major Dug-mullet and everyone in his goddamn family for asking him to do image analysis from the cockpit of a goddamn Beta breaking the fucking sound barrier, looking for images of midgets he was too fucking stupid to avoid opening fire on.

With the radio off.

Bones brings his Valkyrie in from patrol as the rest of Theta draws upon the campsite.

"Good to see you all made it intact. Talk about balancing on the edge of a knife though. Planet's got more Invid than Earth's got farmers." There's a tension in Bones's voice. This mission is quickly looking like poking a bear with a short stick, and Theta's the stick.

"Well, look what the cat dragged in. You boy's have some fun out there? Figures that all the action would happen while I'm forced to play photographer's assistant."

*turns to Deehai*

"Hey, Kentucky Derby ((Vic just loves to come up with creative ways to refer to Deehai's Zen Skin...I know in this day and age its REALLY archaic, but its a good one.)), your comm equipment has priority, so get it set up ASAP. I have a feeling we are going to need remote access to Southern Cross' databases."

*Slaps Deehai on the back and laughs*

"Still in a good mood I see. Moving on."

*Walks over to Natsuki*

"Destiny, go ahead and start prepping a station. Once the Major gives the word, we're going to see if we can't find you a nice kitty to slice up."

*Glancing over the group*

"The rest of you, let's make this up a proper camp, and then prep your mechs for battle."

((Those of you with skills relevant to setting up a secure camp, now's the time to use em.))

"Shepard! Get over here, kid. *grins* Help me set up these early warning trips."

Deehai looks at him like he's gone insane. He pushes a button, bringing the Beta's comm systems on-line via his Cyclone's suite, and linking the two.

"Done, sir."

Stone begins the task of setting up tree blinds and cover to provide what covered positions he can against MD attackers, after which I go over my suit, checking and double checking systems and ordnance and help anyone else who may need it.

"Should we clear and secure a secondary camp and ralley point incase this one is comprimised, sir?"
