Fully powered up, and when you step through the doorway, you get the unexpected sensation of artificial gravity kicking in as well!

Beyond that, you'd guess that you've got about 50 feet of empty corridor (you can see where the fire suppressors would trigger from, in the sides floor and ceiling, in event of a disaster) and then you'll officially be in the engine area of the ship. No hostiles, yet.

move in caustiously, weapons ready, begin locating the engines power plants. Otherwise, I'll try to get a com through to Genius or Ares that we have reached our destination. And close doors behind us and engage any locks they may possess.

Ares looks around quickly as he hears the alarm klaxons going off in the ship and then watches Genius as he talks to the incoming Cyclones

"This has bad news written all over it"

Watches Genius move quickly to the next room and follows suit, slipping past the newcomers if possible and covering Genius with his Valiant rifle and leaping to avoid the incoming boomeriffics.

Now that you're on the other side, you're not quite sure what jury rigged the locking system from this end -- and you're pretty confident it's beyond your skill to tamper with it.

This time, and not before, when you go to contact Ares and Genius you get the telltale distortions of a UEF jamming system. Someone on the bridge is shutting down all communications in this area.

Otherwise, there's no obstructions as you cross the fifty feet and move towards the final doorway that leads to engineering. This door, like the last, is magnetically sealed and does not automatically open as you near it.

Actions?

Genius's quick thinking served him well, as his forward momentum kept him almost entirely out of the blast radius of the grenade, which definitely went off faster than either of you thought it would. Ares was not so lucky and took it full force in the face as he moved to follow his Zentraedi subordinate.

However, it was thankfully only a modified flash-bang grenade, which inflicted no damage but left Ares very disoriented as he attempted to reach the next room. While blinded, he feel the distinct sensation of his climbing rope being picked up, and being yanked into the above room by something with great strength (not at all an impossibility for someone with Cyclone enhanced strength, of course).

And then Ares felt the sensation that Starscream, Stone, and now Genius all had felt -- the shifting of gravity which slammed him unceremoniously into the floor.

Once Ares vision clears he sees the same thing that Genius did moments earlier (so if you opt with an act with hostility, lemme know Nexx and I can rewrite this last part a lil, otherwise I'll just right off your first melee action as "getting up and recovering from the gravity change"). Two things the size of cyclones, but definitely not cyclones, all garbed in red armor and wielding light sabers aimed at the two of you. "Please, come with us." The one whose blade is pointed at Genius says.

Light sabers? Ok, I'm looking at design. Thermo, Infrared, as zoomed in as I can get, plus a good old wide-angle view.

What do these things look like?

Right now it's angle and nearness to your face is keeping you from getting a good look at anything other than a beam of hot energy that's inches away from your baby blacks. Your silence seems to be irritating the Invid, as the point of the blade seems to be moving a little closer.

Woah. Invid? What does the armor look like?

I holster my weapon and take a step back... not a "prepare to run" step back but a "keep that torch out of my face" step back.

Oh sorry, I'd meant to include a sentence saying how they looked like the things Stone and Starscream had been dealing with, but somehow that never got from my brain to the keyboard. For looks, they're modified red Enforcers, it's just you guys have never seen Enforcers before. So slightly larger than human, lil cyclopean like eye, heavily armored, and armed with massive southern cross style shields and light sabers.

Giving Al a lil time before I move the scene forward, since I had to take the whole weekend off myself. Stone, Starscream, it's your move too.

I will look over the door mechanism to see if there are any alarms like the last one, and once Scream is in position to cover the door, I will try to open this one like the last.

This door opens with relative ease, giving you a perfect view of engineering. Though the engine area of the ship spans multiple levels, just a few dozen feet away from you there are a number of (let's got with 8 )...dear God, Invid just walking around without armor on, dressed in robes? However, there are no immediate sightings of the armored Invid.

((I've been thinking about this for a while. Part of me thinks we might want to talk our way into this. Part of me thinks, kill the bastards before they find some armor. I think we'll do this...))

I will simply watch them for as long as we are unnoticed. Take as much of what they are doing in. Try to identify who their leader/commander is within this group.

Once they take a notice of us:

Telepathy to Stone:
Stone, get their flank.

*Walking a few steps in with arm cannon at the level.*

"Alright, nobody move."

((If they so much as twitch in a threatening way. I'll Blast em. Starting with the guy most likely to me to be in charge))

((as detailed in my dispostion to aliens, I'm fine for talking it out, until they prove the need for them to become space dust, so however you want to handle it is fine by me))

I burst into the room upon getting the signal from Starscream, hoping to circle around any machinery or cover to block any side escapes from the robed Invid.

The lead of the duo cocks his head to the side for a moment, and you can both almost feel the telepathic conversation he's engaged in. Someone on board the Integrity is pumping out some incredible psychic energy. The secondary member takes a step back, and pulls out a fairly potent looking rifle, aiming it at Genius. The lead member then holsters his blade and reaches his arm out to Genius. "Quickly, there isn't much time. Come with us."

Five are garbed in blue, two in violet, and one is wearing green. He seems to be in charge. I'm going to guess you went with Tirolian, Screamer, instead of English.

~We are not statues, Officers. Some movement is necessary.~ And look at that, he's a telepath too, it seems. And yes, that was in English.

Stone, while you were positioning yourself to get their flank, and acknowledging that you're no Genius (*rimshot*), your skill base still leaves you fairly certain that they're doing something with the fold system. Modifying it, maybe?

((In my posts from now on, because I often forget to qualify things Embarassed Green = Tirolian Blue = Telepathy Black = English))

To Stone.

"Statues, he says. I hate explaining idioms to aliens."

Immediately following that, to the 'vid that addressed me:

((God I hope my skill is high enough to get this out.))

"It's a figure of speech. It means, make no sudden or threatening movements. I want some answers, and you look like you have them. We know you guys are tough, tough enough that the two of us probably can't take all eight of you. I have no desire to die here today, but push me to it,"

* I take out and activate the laser sword *

", I already know you can bleed."

*pause for moment to let them soak in exactly how I might have acquired that particular item.*

"So what's it going to be?"

Ohhhh. I'll go back and edit my post accordingly -- I just made the telepathy for him green because that was one of the cooler features of the 90s coloring departments for Marvel - giving all the telepaths their own individual colors around their telepathic dialogue bits. I'm keeping it green, but I'm going to add lil ~~'s to it, to denote telepathy.

"All eight of us?" The Green robed Invid rolls his freakish black eyes upward, while tilting his head back as well. Oh look, there's at least a dozen of those armored ones, though they're all in blue now, performing labor on various parts of engineering. And they're using UEF equipment, it seems, to handle the welding and other activities.

When your eyes move back to paying full attention to the robed Invid (plural version there), you realize the Green one has a blade of his own. Except his seems to be made entirely of energy, handle and all. And while the intricate design of it looks completely impractical for combat, neither of you thinks that really matters (psi-sword, occ). "But I live your nerve. What questions do you have for us? And you!" He yells at Stone without actually turning to face him. "Even if I somehow couldn't see you, you still smell awful. Quit trying to get position on us. I'd rather not have to alert the worms to your presence." His English isn't as good when spoken aloud, probably because of the rather inhuman design of his mouth. It's like hearing English spoken underwater, with a mouth full of slime. But otherwise it seems far less shaky than your Tirolian.

even though I slow my approach I keep steadily moving into position, though my barrel lowers giving the impression of standing down.

This ship belongs to our people, what are you doing here?

Barring orders to the contrary from the Major, I'm going along.

((FWIW, my "see newest post" thingy seems to be screwing up, since it will skip over the actual newest posts, and put me two or three down. Haven't found the pattern for it, yet, but I suspect it's tied to how recently I logged in, as opposed to how recently I did something))
