Yeah, it should be tied to how recently you logged in. Are you using a widescreen monitor by the way? I've noticed a similar problem when I'm on my laptop.

Rights belong to the ones strong enough to take them. But regardless, salvage is not our goal. Burial is a more accurate term.

What happened to the crew? Surely not all of them died in the fold.

We will treat our beloved C/O as being a bit groggy. He doesn't have quite the protection that you do, Genius, and so between the fall and flash bang that's not exactly improbable.

Once you walk forward, the lead Invid stays to Genius's side while the secondary actually helps pick Ares up and helps him walk the distance.

Once you reach the bridge you find every seat or station occupied and actively in use -- though for the most part the bridge is being crewed entirely by Invid dressed in blue robes! There are four other armored warriors, one of them is actually in old fashioned Cyclone armor, while the other three are in the same armor as your two red walking companions, though the armor is less ornate and is colored blue. Standing next to the command chair is an Invid garbed in yellow, and sitting in the chair is one of the most beautiful women either of you have ever seen (for a human, anyway, Genius). "Welcome, men. Former First Mate, now Captain, Barbara Livingston, at your service." She pauses however, as she gets a good look at Ares armor and Genius's Cyclone. "Wait, who the hell are you? I thought all that nonsense about the Southern Cross was from injuries you sustained in the crash!"

"It is too late for burial, yes, far too late." And then a sound you've never heard before, almost like a humpback whale mating and decompressing at the same time, echoes through engineering. The blue garbed Invid all spring to life then, rapidly pushing at buttons and manipulating consoles. Stone will notice that the armored Invid from above have all stopped their work and are moving down to your level.

"Your shells," he nods towards the Cyclone armor, "Are quite durable. Wen can speak of survivors later, there is much now to be done, and little time to do it. Now then, I suggest you both find something to hold on to, this should be interesting."

And unless Stone does something ... ill advised ... you two are on hold (though please feel free to post still, Stone) while the bridge scenario and outside scenario advance.

Being a cheeky bastard, Genius replays his greeting (that he'd been looping when trying to contact them) in lieu of answering her with his voice.

Ares shakes his head for a moment as the flashbang's effects finally wear off and looks around for a moment, then nods at the new captain and jerks a thumb at Genius' greeting.

"That's us. You seem to have surrounded yourself with a rather unorthodox crew on this ship....Captain."

Ares maintains his military bearing towards the woman while remaining highly cautious of this new scenario; he quickly takes a count of the beings in sight and makes sure his Mind Block power is up to bar any kind of unwanted "visitors".

"How exactly did you take command of this ship?"

Let's go with a baker's dozen working the various consoles, plus the armored guards, the Invid in Yellow, and the Captain herself.

"Command fell to me when I survived defolding, while Captain Graves, unfortunately, did not." Her head trails over towards the left, and the remnants of a large stain adorning a still cracked viewscreen. Sudden stops from rapid deceleration can be such a painful way to go.

"Now, again, how did you come here? You don't bear the markings of Edward's forces. Did the Hunters send you? Are they alive?"

Conversations in both the Bridge and Engineering are momentarily cut off as a series of missile strikes hit!

Of the four of you, everyone maintains their footing except for Starscream, who is sent flying ten feet back, almost colliding with the doorway that leads out of Engineering.

The Captain on the bridge and the Green robed Invid in Engineering both start shouting for status checks, both yelling in Tirolian.

Well, fuck, I'm still in armor. Am I getting any radio chatter? Is there someone at a radar station I can throw the hell out of the way and use the sensors?

Looks like the radar station was cleared off in the impact. It'd be easy enough for you to get there before anyone else does. Sensors indicate a Legios heading for the upper atmosphere, with a host of Scouts hot on his tail.

Check the signature on the Legios, and grab it's radio if I can. We looking at one of our party, or otherwise? In any case, he shouts at the "Captain" "Tell your fucking scouts to stand down and let the major on the horn with the Legios!"

"Starscream?!? You green?"

I take a much more aggressive stance, ready for any of these Invid to take this opportunity to cause mischief, otherwise, I wait for my comrade to get back to his feet.

((No, I am reaping the rewards of making a joke about dating the GMs sister. Wink ))

*Standing back up and checking all the important bits to make sure they are still there.*

Starscream turns to the Green clad Invid

"What the fuck was that?"

((Obviously fuck is a rather complex translation. So, yea. Razz ))

(actually you just had the bad roll on the 4 d20s. it's been your curse so far)

"Hmm..." Telepathic conversations are so annoying when you can't hear them. "A pilot with an over active trigger finger, it appears. The Scouts will have him soon though, we should be free of interruptions henceforth."

"Tell your scouts to back off! That's one of ours!"

I cycle a charge in my rifle for punctuation.

"Considering he just ambushed and murdered twenty of our men, I'm not sure you really want to claim him. However, I've no control over those Scouts, and even if I did there's eighty of them chasing after him. It's probably already finished."

"Yeah war's a bitch and the sooner you can get them to standdown and stop interferring with our coms the sooner we can call them off."

I try to boost my radio as best I can to get a message out to our men, who I assume are responsible for the missiles. ((Invid don't use explosive ordnance do they?))

Invid don't use explosive ordnance that you've seen. The Green Robed Invid doesn't answer you, seeming lost in thought.

((they still seem to be powering up the fold drives? If that's what I think they were doing in the first place anyhow))

Stone gives a subtle nod to Starscream, signifying the willigness to "make a mess" of things if that's what the CO wants.

"Do you have communication with the bridge Invid?"

Yes and yes.

And still, he says nothing.
