I've decided to spend a brief amount of time in your home shadows. As such, I allow you to set your own initial scene. Once you've done so, I shall step in from there.

Brutus, you're up second. Time, day, month, year, location, and whatever else you feel necessary to tell us about. What're you up to?

It is towards the end of the summer, and the rising moon and setting sun bring the first decent chill to the land in hours. The air had been dry all day, and the wind had been nonexistent. Which of course only helped to intensify the sickening smell of death all around Brutus. For five hours he had laid waste to an outpost manned by the native Brahmans. Legend, and a number of questioned storytellers had all sworn that a great treasure rested beneath the floor of the central tower of the outpost. A treasured blade that had once belonged to a champion of the people that had died over a century ago.

She had once been one of Brutus's closest friends, until he'd been forced to kill her himself. Now, he sought to make amends.

"I can hear you breathing," he called out to the void, not even bothering to turn to face his companion.

"No blade, I see." the old woman, garbed all in black, nonchalantly said as she walked from behind an outcropping of rock. She seemed untouched by the lingering heat, despite being covered nearly head to toe in thick wool. "I wish you'd let this go..."

"No!" Brutus cut her off, tired of hearing her words. "I've no interest in your quest, in this new adventure you've offered me." Brutus casually threw the blade down. It wasn't his blade, he'd thrown that away long ago. Now he got by with the weapons of his foes, though he could never abide them for long.

"You've no interest in living! These quests of you are fool's errands. Your friends are dead, your family is dead, your kingdom is gone. But none of it matters! Your entire life has been but prologue, the briefest flash of what is to come. If you linger here much longer, you'll die, as sure as you'll never kill enough foes, or find enough treasure, to fill the hole you let fester in your heart. I should just kill you now, and stop wasting my time."

"Two years! For two years you've haunted me at my every turn." Brutus paused, considering the harsh words of the annoying woman. Perhaps she was right, perhaps he'd always feel this empty, this alone. "Enough. If you think you can kill me, then finally I can find peace!" And with that he raises both hands, pulling bolts of lightning from the cloudless sky, sending them crashing down on the old woman.

"Fool!" the old woman croaks out as the bolts of lightning strike her dead in the chest. Her wool sets ablaze, and her skin burns. For a moment it does, anyway. With a wave of her hand, a strong wind blows from the east, blowing the flame out while her skin heals as she walks. "If this is how it must be, then so be it. I'd rather you die at my hands than fall under the influence of Chaos!"

The old woman charges, hoping her attack will shock the warrior out of his melancholy. She leaps, making the attack easily dodged, and makes an almost sloppy stab into his throat.

At no point did Brutus dodge, however, and the blade drove straight through his throat. Moments after the strike, without ever truly flailing, Brutus collapsed to the earth, his blood gushing from the wound.

"Well, shit."

Nina...at last. I'm coming for you. Peace, final, blessed peace. Nina...Nina...Ni- but there is no Nina waiting for Brutus. Though his life flashed before his eyes, his peaceful end, his blessed afterlife, his long lost wife were nowhere to be found. This cannot be! Nina, I can't face oblivion without you! I will not be alone forever. I will not be...

"Alone!" Brutus lurches forward, his fingers moving frantically to weave his spell while he pulled deep within himself for the Elemental Source that fueled his sorcery. Only he found no wound to heal, no gushing blood to slow. Instead, he found a silk dressing around his neck...and a silk sheet wrapped around his body. "Where...where am I?" he asked to the void, as his eyes adjusted to his new surroundings. A room made entirely of black stone, with a warm fireplace and a small collection of gold and silver furniture scattered about the room.

"You are in Amber, my Prince." You hadn't even seen him until he moved towards your bed, which is terrifying considering he's nearly seven feet tall and seemingly built of solid muscle. It was like he stepped out of thin air, now blocking part of the light coming off the fireplace. As you get a better look at him, you see that his head is bald, his eyes are solid yellow, save a black speck in the middle and his face is long and plain, with a smile that is warm, though perhaps falsely warm. He's dressed in white clothing, covered from head to toe just as the old woman was. He's armed with a simple scimitar, but you can see the quality put into the blade's forging even from here.

"My name is Mac. How may I assist you?" His skin, almost as white as his garb, begins to fade in sections as he comes to rest, almost as if parts of him were vanishing again before your very eyes.

"Emperor. I've never been a mere Prince, servant." Brutus slides back into the old role fast enough. It may have been forty years since he allowed himself even a temporary servant, but old habits they die hard. "Now then, I've toured most of the world, and what little of it I've missed certainly didn't contain wonders such as this. Now, where is this Amber, that it's escaped my notice all my life?"

Realizing he's naked beneath his sheets, Brutus begins to scan the room in search of suitable clothing, finding none in immediate sight. "And where are my clothes, and my rations?"

"Food is on its way, I summoned it for you the moment you burst awake. As for clothes, you'll find all you need, for now, in the next room. It's not quite your style, but attire is more formal in Amber than it is in the wastes of Asor. As for where Amber is, while there is much I can tell you, that is a matter for the Blood to discuss. It will have to wait." A knock on the door interrupts Mac's excuse. "Ah, breakfast." and with a wave of his hand, the door opens and a pair of carts are wheeled in.

Brutus waits until the serving woman has left before he rises to get dressed. He's not ashamed of his body. It is in remarkable shape for his age, for any age, but one must always remain proper in front of the help. His desire to be proper ends seconds after he enters the dressing area however. Coats, shirts, pants, and accessories all cut in his style, his colors. The woman in black has fed these people far too much information. It takes all of his restraint not to tear the room apart when he spies a reproduction of the clothes he wore the day he married Nina. Nina he wails inwardly, wondering why he's suddenly having trouble remembering the sound of her voice.

The moment passes, and the rage subsides. A simple pair of tan leather pants and a white silk shirt, along with ox skin boots and a scattering of gold necklaces will suffice for now. Now, on to food, as he realizes just how famished he is.

"Amazing..." He allows genuine escape to pass through his lips as the bounty of foods is presented to him. Meals that are never available with one another back in the dark continent due to seasonal shifts are all fresh and steaming hot right in front of him. For nearly half an hour he gorges on fish, lamb, fruits and vegetables while drinking nearly three pitchers of a well brewed beer. It is the fullest he's been in years, and perhaps, the happiest.

An improper burp roars outward, though Mac does not react. Mac reacted to nothing, from the rage to the feast. It was becoming unnerving. "Well, now that I've dined, I'd like to see my warden. Take me to the lady in black, Mac."

"Don't make me ill, Mac!" Old, so old. Probably younger than him, but not as untouched by the years. Of course, he had loved Nina through her aging, but the old woman was definitely no Nina. "But yes, I've been alone long enough. Perhaps it is time I mixed with the common folk once more." besides, how else am I to find allies to use against you all.

"Of course not, Prince. I'll do my best not to make you ill, again." Humorless in delivery, but Mac still seemed to have a mocking twist to his words. He guided you through the castle, out into the courtyard. It struck you that for a building this massive, it must be backed by incredible wealth, but little of that wealth was on display. Hidden, or invested elsewhere in the kingdom?

As you enter the courtyard, Mac pulls up short for a moment, allowing you to press onward. Your eyes catch sight of a second Mac, trailing beside a small Eastern girl.

Brutus wasn't certain if he was angrier at the girl, or himself. It was stupid of him, to let his guard down like that, to take an interest in that bit of fluff. She reminded him far too much of old memories. This whole event had left his defenses unsettled.

At least his powers didn't feel diminished in this place. If anything, his control over the water had been greater than ever. It made him itch, it made him curious to test out these new abilities.

But that would have to wait until dry clothes had been found. The looks from the citizenry were certainly inappropriate. It was too long a ride back up the mountains. Surely, if he was a Prince, there must be a merchant in town that would garb him on credit.

With that, Brutus took off towards the town, moving at a fast enough gallop that hopefully none would notice his soaked state.

It bothers you that you're able to read all of the shop signs. Certainly this world doesn't use your native language, but the words are just instinctive to you.

After a few minutes of strange and angry looks from the masses as you speed by, you come across the Silver Thread, a shop of medium size that seems like it will serve.

Brutus buries the situation with the signs for now, simply being thankful that he's dry enough to head into the shop without soaking the carpet.

"Shopkeeper!" He shouts, though in a voice without anger, "A Prince of Amber is in need of assistance."

An ancient man, with a slight tinge of green skin, shuffles out from back. "Prince of Amber? I see no Prince of Amber here. And I should know, I've been host to them all, from dearly departed Eric to the gallant Caine, and even stubborn Ge-"

"Enough!" Brutus barks, cutting off the old man with the odd skin condition. Freaks, this place is filled with freaks Brutus thinks, as he remembers the twin Mac's and their bizarre tint as well. "I am a newly raised Prince, and I'm in need of fresh garments, for when I meet with the rest of your esteemed noble patrons."

"Well, I've certainly heard such claims before." The man raises his glasses, letting his aged eyes fall upon you. "Though you certainly have the look of power about you. Very well, I'll send the bill to Clarence, and he and I can fight over it later. Though of course, there's the customary surcharge for such rushed work. Right this way, Prince..." The man pauses, waiting for you to give your name.

"Prince Brutus," though there's a hint of distaste as Brutus refers to himself so. It's been ages since anyone called him Emperor without hate in their voice, but it's still the title Brutus is most fond of. "Black, and gold, for the colors, master tailor."

If the tailor is upset over your lack of care in his name, he hides it well. Though if he really has dealt with as many of the Blood as he claims, he's used to the conceit of nobility.

The tailor works fast, that's for certain. He doesn't even need to measure you, he simply goes to work modifying existing outfits to sculpt a sharp and seemingly stylish ensemble for you. "They call this a tuxedo," he says as he applies the final touches. "It's all the rage in King Random's court."

Before you're able to properly thank the tailor (if you would have), Mac steps out of the air in front of you both.

"Merciful Unicron, you are a Prince..." The tailor half gasps once he sees the Specter.

"It is time to return to the Castle," Mac says, extending his hand. He then pauses, noticing you are alone. "I trust the girl still lives?"

"Of course she does," Brutus half growls at his servant, but does reach out to take his hand. "I am no monster, creature."
