And by while, I mean probably like 8-10 years.

Can someone explain how RCC's work again? They have their own PPE and skills and gear. Do all of those things get completely replaced if you pick an OCC? Or do you combine them... or what?

Short version - replace their skills and gear with whatever comes with the OCC. If there's some really neat shit from the RCC, however, gear or skill wise, I'm not going to put up a fuss. Gear especially, considering you've all had years n years to gather phat loot.

Would it make sense to add PPEs though? Natural racial + acquired from OCC? Or should I just use whichever one is bigger?

Marrow has already ruled, but I want to add something here because it can be confusing in the books.

Not all things listed as RCCs in the books are really RCCs, but are rather races. There was a time where Kevin thought it would be a good idea to change all the "races" to RCCs to avoid confusion. Probably the most epic fail in the companies game design history.

So just use your common sense. If its a racial ability they are born with keep it. If its part of their unique racial "job" but you have elected to take a different route, then don't keep it (unless marrow says keep it).

The next worst fail was when he changed Dogboy and Psi Stalkers to "OCCs" for the Ultimate Edition. Uhg.

Speaking of epic fail in Rifts, how about Wormwood, where because of everyone having natural MDC but humans lacking supernatural strength, they technically can't hurt each other in a fist fight. Wink

I reserve the right to give different answers on a case by case basis. I'll probably allowed combined, but I'm not 100% atm for your specific instance.

Yea, that's easily the funniest example of the problems with the strength catagories.

One of the many reasons I removed MDC from my game entirely and just converted it all into 3 SDC.

Yea, that fixes some problems, but I actually like MDC.

Its only funny because its unintended. It would have been a great opportunity for story elements. Imagine a whole race of humans that believe they are invulnerable. Never having been damaged by physical means, and then suddenly they are being killed left and right. Would send shockwave through the society, right? But its hardly even addressed...because the game designer forgot to take it into account.

But in the grand scheme of things its not that big of a deal. The things where they are trying to fix something and make it worse with the fix, are the ones that piss me off.

For now hold off on posting anything here. Today and tomorrow are my "hell" days, work from 7 to 7, with enough break in the middle to hit the gym. So I won't be doing much more than keeping up with games until Thursday. PM me as needed, of course.

What is happening in these hours to make them so odd?

Ok I'll try to work on my characters this weekend. My boss has decided that I need to be at our stupid trade show for the whole thing now, so I'll be in Vegas from Thursday thru Tuesday so either I'll be busy beyond belief, or bored out of my mind at the booth and trying to work on stuff there.

I hated Vegas, except for the fact that the Adult Film Industry show or some variation of it was next to our convention, that was an interesting wrong turn from the bathroom. Cool

Considering how boring I am.. it sucks. Plus it doesn't help that I'll be stuck in meetings or on the show floor most of the time, and there won't be strippers at the show. Razz

you can always do like Sean Penn in Fast Times* and order some to come in during the meeting

*sure, sure, he did it with Pizzas during class, but the gist is the same.

wait, I know what industry you work in -- and you're going to tell me there won't be strippers on the showroom floor in Vegas for that? I'm disappointed. I figured you'd be swimming in skank.

This is a show for the manufacturers and distributors. They don't even have demo's for the most part so you don't even have the 'booth babes' hanging off the stylists.

Nope, they usually have those at the sell shows where they're selling to the salons and stylists. Though the best still has to be the one in San Jose last year where we got bored with things being so slow and played 'count the transsexuals'.
