I do not like the idea that you float around as a 0 level person until you begin your life as a Nightspawn, or whatever. It irks me.

So we're going to do things this way instead.

You will all be starting at 2nd level + 1D2 (I'll be handling the 1D2).

This is a reflection of your life as a normal everyday human being, before you transformed into a Beast. How are we going to do this, you may ask. Simple, I'm taking a page from Beyond the Supernatural 2nd Edition, and using the very smart "Occupation" system to set up your skill sets.

If your Occupation isn't represented with this chart, let me know and we'll customize something.

You will be playing an approximation of yourself. A bit of fudging is acceptable, and to be expected, but if someone comes to me with a Strength of 24, or anything else like that, there's going to have to be some proof accompanying it. So yes, you will be creating your own stats.

This of course only applies for your purely human form (which is your form if you're playing a psychic or mage).

Most of the race and classes of the Nightspawn game are things that have a transformation point (Vampires, Nightspawn, Guardians, etc) but if someone opts for a class that is more based on a lengthy period of study, we'll talk privately.

While this would completely break from the reflection of you in reality, if anyone wants to use a Martial Art from Ninjas and Superspies (even if you practice Martial Arts in real life, you're still not going to know many, if any, of the special abilities in the N&SS Book) let me know.

Lastly, if anyone wants to use the Beta Skills system I put up in the PiG forum, as opposed to the traditional system, also let me know.

Use this thread, for now, to start posting your concepts (but not your actual character sheets. I want to talk to each of you once I've seen your concepts before sheets are officially put up)

Any other questions, please do contact me.

Do you intend to post that table or did you ninja install a link? There are a number of us who plain DON't have access to BtS2... and I for one am not going to buy it for many months, if only due to budget constraints.

I could use the basic system to reconstruct a set of skills close to my own, but if you prefer that method, I'll need some access.

Table is coming up. I got distracted by a RL Issue for the last forty minutes or so.

my character concept is pretty straightforward so far. my lifelong wish to be physically gifted and love for technology are the main factors that have gone into my morphus. so far, it's a pretty straightforward setup of physical perfection and metal endoskeleton.

the endoskeleton isn't as grotesque as the book makes it out to be, though. there are places on his body where it becomes obvious(most obvious are a sort of frame supporting the jaw, two thick cables going symmetrically down the neck, and some cabling that goes along the surface of the forearms and lower legs), but it isn't breaking through the skin; rather, it flows through the skin to create a very sleek, deliberate look.

main talent will be Darkwhip, taking the form of a cybernetic tendril with something on the end that i haven't quite settled on yet.

I got my degree in Psychology a while back, but never really worked in the field.

I've done data entry and done well waiting tables since. Hooters here I come?

here's a start. this is a pretty good representation of how i see my head/neck looking. it's a little more bionic looking than terminator looking.

as you can see, i'm very much a Ken by nightbane standards. well, in morphus anyway.

edit: i'm taking the idea further, covering large portions of his body with a kind of technological bodysuit.
sort of like this, but in a more brown/red hue, sans the more regular clothing(and the pants being skintight), with the green trim glowing.

btw, the artist of this picture is Hyung Tae Kim. he rocks my socks off.
edit again: forgot to mention, the bodysuit leaves a large portion of the front of my(using the first person from now on, as this is, in fact, me as a character) torso bare. spreads in a V shape from just above my naughty bits, all the way up to my shoulders, coming around in a collar at the top. long story short, i'm a closet exhibitionist.

one last thing for tonight: i think it would be appropriate for my character to have the Dancer feature from the Rifter 44. lemme know if you have any thoughts on that.

Paramedic would probably be the closest thing for me.

I'd probably go with Scholar or Skeptic/Debunker with some extra science classes in History and Anthropology.

Basicly I'm a scholar... the change will certainly make me want to develop a whole new set of skills I didn't ever think I could undertake, but that's the charm of being gifted with a new form that's stronger, healthier and more nimble than your own... and totally unsuited to reading books or working on a computer.

I'm torn (like an old sweater) over the kinda bane to be.

I'm either going to be ridiculously hot or ridiculously hideous.....

OK, I'll start getting skill lists out to folks when I am home for the evening, which is also when I'll check out the Dancer bit.

Visual looks good, Zn, though hopefully that'll be the last time any of us hear you mention naughty bits. Very Happy

Tasha, could always go with a duality look. Your right half is smoking hot, your left half is burned to a crisp.

I guess the closest for me would be Factory Worker, though its been years since I've done that sort of work.

I'll probably do some sort of insectoid, as they are what I most fear and I figure fate would like to fuck with me like that. But I'll get back to you on that one.

Oh it may not exist, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't be easy to modify. Find one of the animal form morphus tables, and look for the centaur style option (there's gotta be it somewhere). A Naga is essentially a snake centaur.

Yes, that would really make me a toe-to-toe morphus more than a snugglebunny-killer morphus.

The constrictor snake can really generate some damage but I'm not physically strong so I wouldn't be too much of a crusher. I figure I'm P.S. 8 in real life. But the venemous kind pack some damage in their bites.

Hm.

You know I have this box of dice in front of me..........

Thief! Stop stealing my idea! (Well ok my idea was more a Yuan-Ti then a Naga, but still.)

To be honest though I'm not sure what would fit in better here, and how would we handle me being a Guardian since you kinda start over from scratch. Or would 'me' be me post guardianship?
