It was as easy as walking through a doorway. Moment earlier it had been a warm summer afternoon near New Lazlo, and now you look out upon the world and feel a distinct chill. It is night, and off in the distance the eerie glow of red peppers the horizon. You stand at the nexus of three ley lines, all glowing with the same red energy as on your Earth. The land around you is flat, and though it is dark, you'd imagine you could see for miles under the Sun's light. There are a number of animal and insect noises all around you, but nothing that sounds hostile.
Welcome to Earth Two. |

Vladimir tries to determine whether the ley lines feel like they feel on Earth while clicking through the various optical features of his helmet to scan the land around, as well his own natural vision abilities. |

((hey, look at me, getting to cut n paste answers. I love the early steps of games. ))
The energy flows into your body easily enough, but once inside you, it feels tense. Almost as if the blue energy you'd gathered before the journey was refusing to merge with the red energy of Earth Two. You feel certain you can use either kind to weave your spells, however.
((Also, give me a bit more specifics for what you're looking for -- I make y'all work for your info )) |

Vladimir is looking for vegetation of any kind - scrub, bushes, grasses, trees.
Vladimir is looking for structures/objects of any kind - buildings, rolling hills, rock piles, a Moon, clouds.
Vladimir is looking for movement of any kind - animals, people (other than the ones that entered with me). |

Vladimir makes a very brief sound like Clint Eastwood groaning and adds in a low voice, "don't know but it's flatter than a witch's tit." |

"No." It's not clear if Vladimir feels lightened up though. |

"Looking for cover." The nexus stresses Vladimir's comfort level somewhat. |

Morgan activates his eye of mystical knowledge, AND his 3 yes of mystical sights even before we cross the rift. Trying to analyse any weird auras and enchantments around there, both sides .
I also reset the inertial navigator once we are the other side, so we know exactly what kind of trip we're taking. |

No obvious cover presents itself to the scans of the party. You appear to be in a lengthy expanse of scrub, and half dead scrub at that. What does concern you is that there are visible rends in the earth and scorch marks upon some of the scrub. A battle has been fought here, more than likely a series of battles. Some of these holes in the ground are old, and cutting through solid rock. Even powerful personal weapons couldn't create havoc like this on such a large scale. Vehicles, or large robots, have fought near (perhaps for) this Nexus. |

Vladimir says in his typically low monotone voice, "We're more exposed than a polar bear with ten dicks on an iceberg. I suggest we move away from the nexus."
Vladimir tries to quantify the length of the ley lines forming the nexus. |

making sure the MS10's turret is in good order, check all the instruments, make sure I have the Naruni rifle handy.
Should we follow one of the lines, or just move away from all 3? Since we got a wheeled vehicle in addition to the hover one, checking the area for terrain suitable for wheeled traffic... and looking for tracks, footprints, and anything that could help identify who else was recently there. |

"We can follow from a safe distance."
Vladimir uses Detect Ambush, Tracking, and Intelligence skills in attempts to gain more information about the area. |

Same here.
"So you want I lead the way and you follow from a distance? Fine... but just where do we go (for that matter, assuming this is a twisted mirror of the real world, where in the real world was the rift we just crossed?) |

"I mean we can follow the ley line from a safe distance; in this flat land it will be visible a ways off. Lead if ya want. Direction isn't relevant. We don't know where the fuck we are nohow. We are lost like tears in the rain." |

so, let's say we follow a gline from 500yds to a mile away... got any preferences for which one?
BTW, what directions are the line going, and do my inertial compass and other navigation tools tell me anything about apparent latitude and longitude ? |

Vladimir has no preference which line to follow. One is as good as another to him. |

So let's follow the line that goes south, or west, or both. Within sighting distance... bit too far... if anything happens, Vlad and I might enjoy the proximity, if only to go regenerate out spent PPE... better to suck from a ley line than to have to actually rest and meditate. |

Your knowledge of these matters indicate that there are no obvious areas for an ambush. These tracks are old, and the flat land must constantly be battered by heavy winds. While none of the tracks seem to have been hidden, as there are literally thousands of muddled marks on the ground, none of them are particularly helpful either. Some man sized, some gigantic, and everything inbetween. The best the lot of you can guess is that it's been at least two weeks since any heavy action has occurred in these parts.
You crossed through a Rift near New Lazlo, which is in the geographic area of what was once called Michigan. |

The lines are traveling roughly northeast to south, east to west, and a second line raised about ten degrees above a west to east path, traveling slightly along a NW to SE path.
I'll get back to you on the other part later. |
