For these initial few posts, I want you to build your own scene. You are awaking inside your home, or wherever you crashed the night before. For the Nightspawn in the game, you'll be awaking to a transformers body. The same goes for the Werebeasts, though I leave you the option of waking up in full on animal mode, or in Were mode.

Keep in mind, except for a couple of you, I've never even been to your state, let alone your city or home. So for these early posts, you're going to have to put in a lot of descriptors for me.

And...go!

Well, I'm at a nice little hotel in the French quarter... not hilton class, but quite nice..., Nawleens cachet, the AC works, the bathroom is nice, and there's a diner at the corner that has killer calas for breakfast...

and it's really really weird to find out I can't rise on my backlegs and that my hands look like black furred paws... I guess I'm going to the bathroom on all fours to try and see if splashing water on my face will make it better... I should not have let Geronimo take me to that bar where they have such killer mojitos and actually know what a Rusty Nail is.

I might be calling room service or for a doctor... but those darn paws won't pick up the darn phone, so first try and get me some water on that face.

((I TOTALLY misinterpreted the bolded part at first. Laughing Laughing ))

Once within the bathroom, assuming you find a way to get on your hind legs so that you can actually see the mirror, you're in for quite a shock. That is not your face in the mirror. It isn't even a human face in the mirror.

Well, I lift a forepaw up to the basin, then the other, lean on them to bring my head up... and either this is the mother of all bad hangovers, or I'm still asleep and having a nightmare... I'll close my eyes and pay for a few seconds that I'm back to normal when I open them again... I'm used to have fur inside my mouth when hungover, but not over my whole body.

*trying to keep it together and not start screaming*

A few rounds of closing and opening eyes, and you're still a giant Cat. Unfortunately, fear hasn't rid you of the need to relieve yourself from last night's liquor.

First, get relieved... I guess I'll have to do it in the shower Until I come back to normal or learn to use that weird cat body to do a reasonable back leg stand... then, I'll just go lie down for a few minutes and hope the hallucination will be gone ... oh, and I swear copiously, does it come out as speech or as mewing/growling?

((I'm not sure we ever decided on that. If up to me, I'd say it is speech, but your call)).

You can still smell the urine. Even from out here. Yeah, that's going to take some getting used to.

can I lean on the window casement and see if I can open the window in this shape? Unless I get back to human shape in a jiffy, it looks like I'm trapped in this room... unless I raise a real caterwaul and the maid comes and I bowl her out of the way...

But this doesn't look too bright... going out in daylight in a big town looking like a giant cat looks like a great way to end up in the pound of, at best, if they mistake me for a panther, at the zoo... neither of which is appealing

After a few moments of pawing at the window, and you learn of your much greater strength, as you shatter the glass of the window with frightening ease. Shards of glass tear into your paw, but before the pain can even really register, you get an altogether new shock, as the glass pops out of your paw, and the wounds begin to heal right before your eyes.

OK... This is weird...
So, first, a short nap, and if I'm still looking like that when I wake up, learning to use that body, seeing what it will and won't do, which ways it will bend or not, that kind of stuff.

oh, and seeing how sensitive and delicate my mouth is for picking up things and if I can use my claws to push buttons on a keyboard... won't do for a computer, but if I can at least use a phone, that would be a start until I find a way to get back to normal.

Your nap is the stuff of nightmares. Some you chalk up to the trauma of your new form, but others feel completely different. Long horrible dreams of being chased by unseen foes. A standard dream, for many, of course, but somehow it all felt so much more real. The sting of their whips felt so real. So very real.

Other nightmares included looking at your reflection in the mirror, only on the other side of the mirror was your human form, and it reached through to strangle your cat like neck.

And still you dreamed on, unable to wake. More nightmares of being chased, of being hunted, and for some strange reason your buddy G-Mo was there, though he ignored your pleas for help, telling you that there was nothing to be afraid of. That there was nothing out there.

His laughter at your fears echoed in your mind as you bolted wide awake!

As your hands pushed off on the bed, the first thing you notice is that you have hands again. You're human once more!

But before you get too certain that it was all some twisted dream, you notice the window is still broken, with the shards that came out of your paw still on the ground. And there are no scars on your human hand.

There are cuts though, not on your hand, but around your neck, and near your forehead. It's as if barbed wire had been wrapping its way around you.

While being chased. In your dreams.

Time for a full wash (and try to get the cat pee smell out of the shower), then a solid breakfast... lots of extra strong coffee, get the matter of the window settled with the hotel, spend the rest of the day visiting the town some more and unbunching my shorts.

Dinner, with a lot of coffee before sundown, I've got a feeling next night might be... interesting.

The day was an uneventful one, at least in comparison to your morning. The hotel owner was faux forgiving in regards to the window, but was more than happy to add the expense to your bill. He offered to put you up in another room, as it could be a few days or more before they were able to properly replace the window.

Whether you stay in your old room or move on, as night begins to fall, you realize you're almost asleep right before you drift off entirely. Even with the extra coffee, your body seems to want the rest. You just want to curl up tightly on the bed and take a little nap.

But just as you were about to give in to the desire to sleep, you catch some movement out of the corner of your eye, as if something was in the room with you!

I look to see if there's really somebody or something.
At any rate, I get the window properly open before I lie down... If I wake up pawed again, I want an exit without breaking more stuff.

Of course... if there IS some intruder, I might have to react to that before.

You perform a thorough search of the hotel room and bathroom, but find no one else. But you're still certain someone was there.

OK, so I open the window as fully as possible... idea being having a space through which a very large feline could go through without causing havoc.

Now I'll just sit by the bed and meditate on how if felt like when I was a cat.

As you meditate, you feel like there's something inside you. You can't quite touch it, yet, but it's almost as if the cat that is you is prowling around inside your soul.

I just focus on what it felt when I was like that, how the sensory input was different, how my body felt put together, I curl around in a circle and think of my skin being covered in fur and my hands replaced by paws.

For now, that doesn't seem to be having an impact.

Before you can explore matters further, however, there's a knock on your door.

so I rise, make sure I'm decently dressed (which I should be since I've been out and didn't take the evening shower yet), and ask what it's about from behind the door (well, behind the wall to the side of the door, in case somebody wanted to shoot me through that door)

"Hey fool, where you been?" The voice of G-Mo shouts. "Let me in."

is there a look hole? does the voice feel normal (ok, so I went on his tour and spent an evening drinking with him, so I may not really know the range of "normal" for him, but his showing up at my hotel and calling me like that does not feel normal either) ?

You don't remember any plans you and he made, but honestly you don't remember much of that night once the strong drinking began.

However, through the look hole it looks like the G-Mo you remember.
