Space reserved for now, I need to work up the modified timeline and modified "what got blown up" breakdown before I can fairly expect you all to be getting to work on this.

A couple of things to begin mentioning now though. Within the last 24 hours I've decided to change a fundamental plot point to the game -- don't worry, you all are still going to be on a deep space recon mission, but part of the reason why is changing. The change makes things make a little more sense, and it frees up one important option for all of you. It's going to have been right at 25 years since the Zentraedi made it rain, and all of you have to be at least 20 years old (or a fucking prodigy that you'll need to run by me) due to the experience level you all are starting at. As such, you all have the option of being half, or even full Zentraedi. Post in here if that's the route you want to go (however, don't automatically go with the stats in the books -- I'll send you the stats to work with if this is the route you opt to go).

Though I don't have the full decisions in front of me, geographically, I can give you this quick break down.

70% of the world's population is going to have died in the Great Bombardment, but almost all of that loss is going to have come from a line starting in Spain and heading East to China. With 33% of the world's population resting between China and India, respectively, it's not hard to find another 37% to kill between Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

This means that South America, Africa, and Australia all remained virtually untouched (the US got hit, and I'll probably stick with the Palladium map that has the coasts obliterated and the rest of the continent being ok, but I'm not 100% certain of that yet -- perhaps just the East Coast, since I know Japan is going to be untouched, I might leave the West Coast that way as well).

So, when deciding where your character is from, keep in mind that unless you're Russian, Scandinavian, British, Japanese, Canamerixican, or a lucky survivor, odds are you're from South America, Africa, or Australia.

So, for now, start figuring out a light back story (keep it flexible enough that I can point out changes that'll need to be made, if for some reason they're necessary) and all the miscellaneous Palladium stuff - Height, weight, Zodiac sign, etc, etc.

Obviously, while you can opt for the "I fucking hate Zentraedi" option, I'd recommend against it since there's going to be a lot more Zentraedi in the world and in the military than there was in the traditional game verse. And since potentially half or more of this party could end up being part Zentraedi.

Now, since Al went with the Command MOS, he's going to be starting at 5th level, while the rest of you will be coming in at 4th.

Post necessary info and questions in here.

Isn't a canamerixican another Alien Intelligence in one of the Rifts books? Question

My current thoughts:

A Zentraedi Combat Engineer. Being the only full zent in most of his classes (with the purple skin and light blue hair which clearly marks him out as such), he's got a bit of a chip on his shoulder, and a bit of a temper. He's not as high ranking as he should be, based on ability; he ascribes this to prejudice, but a lot more has to do with picking fights with those above him in the CoC... not brawls, but a bit of looking for trouble. That keeps his promotion rate pretty slow.

Currently, I'm thinking he prefers the more utilitarian Southern Cross designs for battloids. He likes the Cyclone, however, and will likely have one of those and a silverback.

Since you've got the benefit of having the Macross book, which of the three lower castes were you looking to be a descendant from? I'm half tempted to recommend the auxiliary specialist caste, but I'm curious to know what you're aiming for.

Since he's a full-blood, he's got a little bit of cross-breeding... daddy was a grunt, mom was a specialist.

Works for me -- I'll give you a modified set of hybrid stats to roll with (or to let me roll) later tonight.

Hybrid Stats

IQ: 11+1D6
ME: 10+1D4
MA: 6+1D8
PS: 22+1D6
PP: 17+1D6
PE: 24+1D6
PB: 9+1D6
Spd: 22+1D6

These are you full sized stats. When you are in your micronized state, reduce PS, PE, and Spd by half.

If you roll a 4 on the D4, a 6 on the D6, or an 8 on the D8, you get one bonus roll with the same die.

The first song she ever heard, my mother told me repeatedly, was "My Boyfriend's a Pilot". It affected her so deeply that she found a pilot boyfriend, and the two of them inflicted their individual neuroses on me. My mother, a scientist in the Grand Fleet, became possibly the most incompetent housewife on the United Earth. My father, a mean drunk who took his sweet time learning to pilot Earth aircraft (since he was prevented from returning to full size due to a poor discipline record), didn't notice, since he was too busy crashing simulators and throwing shit at me when I would thrash him in the arcade simulators. I eventually stopped going, and instead fucked around with amateur radio and finding ways to make money off other people's bank accounts.

Eventually, I was caught, which taught me a valuable lesson: When you're doing something against the rules, cover your tracks and have someone else available to take the blame. I was, due to the nature of my crimes, given the option of extensive jail time or military service. Anchors aweigh, my boys, anchors aweigh.

In school, I quickly learned that humans assumed I was an idiot because I was a Zentraedi, and that they didn't take kindly to people pointing out that the Zentraedi were a spacefaring race when they were hitting each other with sharp sticks, and had managed to wipe out 70% of human life on Earth. I also learned that much of what they were trying to teach me I had figured out when I was twelve. Thus, I continued my hobbies of trashing credit ratings and keeping a good GPA with minimal effort.

In the first two years of my military career, I had no less than 17 different assignments. That's new orders every six weeks, on average. The shortest assignment was three days before I got shuffled into another posting; I got assigned at the same time as a new CO, who was XO on another assignment; I heard that he broke a keyboard looking for a new place to send me. Different ships, different COs, each time getting a performance rating just above average... enough that the next CO wouldn't toss me immediately, especially when he needed someone; with chronic troop shortages, there was always someone desperate enough not to question why he was being offered a JG on such short notice.

It's not that I am bad at my job; far from it. It's that humans are threatened by a Zentraedi who knows their systems better than they do. They hate to be shown up by a race that has spent centuries perfecting itself, while they've just wallowed along, fucking whoever they like and making stupid, ugly, children that they invariably think are little geniuses. They call their children "Einsteins", nevermind that the Zentraedi were in hyperspace centuries before Einstein said that you couldn't go faster than light. Even their Lang only cribbed notes off of Zor.

It's like working with particularly smelly monkeys, sometimes.

Full blooded Zent, raised in upper class Tokyo Society, his parents were part of the Zentraedi elite that were "adopted" by the Mitsubishi Zaibatsu, to assist with a variety of social, cultural, and technological projects that Mitsubishi was working on.

John Smith is a Mormon from the church-established colony of Nova Sel Iago Citta. As a young boy, he remembers making the journey with his parents, an engineer & schoolteacher, aboard the Colony Ship Joseph Smith. John remembered the fateful day they discovered their new homeworld, and the mass Thanksgiving were everyone legally changed their last name to "Smith", to celebrate the successful landing (previous to this, his last name had been Berenstein).

Life was difficult for everyone, but John had a strong family unit to draw upon, as his parents joined a plural marriage with two other families on the colony. The environment allowed John to explore many avenues of knowledge, and he soon apprenticed himself to his father, learning the engineer's trade. While an unconventional life to many others, John grew up happy, and loved.

John had just agreed to join his first wife Isabella's family unit, when the Invid attacked Nova Sel Iago Citta. While the UEDF forces kept the battle mostly away from the colony, the few Invid that managed to make planetfall ran amok in the city streets, as civil defense units uselessly threw themselves at the armored invaders. John was lucky, and neither of his two families were hurt in the attack, but he knew such luck wouldn't hold.

He joined the UEDF the next day.

While initially shocked at his sudden enlistment, both families quickly lent him their support (though, Isabella was a *little* perturbed her new husband had just upped away...). They made up before he shipped off planet, and 9 months later, his first son Gregory was born. By current count, he has 3 sons and 2 daughters in the family unit, though he only rarely gets to see them face-to-face.

His excellent record has caught up to John, and he was offered a spot on a special Strike Force, Theta Squad. While the training has been long and ardous, John has perservered. He has to. He's fighting for his children's future, a future where monsters from outer space cannot rob them of their childhood...

I know it was a place-holder, but when I saw "John Smith" as my characters name, inspiration hit! Wink
