Darryn only has a split second to act, so he does the only sensible thing...

...he tries to put Ginger between himself and the purple ball of light!

And Darryn wins Initiative once again!

The purple mist impacts squarely into Ginger, pulling her out of Darryn's hands and sending her up against a wall, Meanwhile Harv flies full force into Darryn, shoving him aside, and sending them both sprawling into a heap of body parts and gore.

Which, as a result, keeps them both from seeing the glorious sight that Jaq gets to see. The purple substance rolling and oozing in and around Ginger, before she suddenly falls to her knees, screams, and explodes all over the room and all over you three.

For the moment, there is no trace of the purple substance.

"Hey?!? The Ace of Hearts!" shouts Harv as he picks up a wayward card and holds it up.

"Where'd Ginger go?" says Harv as he picks up the slight mage from underneath him and brushes off some gore and blood as if it were mundane dirt.

Seconds stretch across an eternity...

Then Darryn is repeatedly kissing the Ogre all over the face!

Darryn proceeds back to the steps up, punctuated every so often with "Oof" and "Awwws"...

Jaq shake's her* head and says, "I know of Auntie's way out of here," and points in the general direction.

Jaq glances at Darryn and Harv and follows with, "You'll likely need to crawl, but if that's the worst thing that happens the rest of the night you should be thankful."

[*Because it's becoming tedious to apply both genders, I will be referring to Jaq as either "he/him/his" or "she/her/hers" depending on the form currently selected - in this case, still female.]

Unfortunately, while Darryn might be able to make it through, you'll both have to leave Harv behind for certain. No way he's fitting through that passage way.

And no promises there aren't a twist or turn that'll trap Darryn, either. This was built by dwarves, for dwarves, after all.

Bending down to look at the passageway. "Bah, you twos hurry on now, ole Harv's got some unfinished with Big and Rotting out there. Should you live through this, tell a story about me."

and with those last words, Harv puts the cards he had collected into one of the Trickster's pockets and helps shove him into the tunnel. Then makes a polite sweeping bow to the Changleling. "Your turn, ma'm."

once they are in the tunnel, Harv will then look for something to stack in front of the hole to conceal/block it. Pulls a small flask to enjoy one more shot of good grog, pulls his long knife from his backsheath, howls a mighty war cry to shake the building and lets the Black take him.

Darryn slinks through the narrow corridor, suddenly very grateful for all those times he had to learn to get out of Miss Eileen's pretty little canvas contraptions, as he proves incredibly lithe and limber, getting out of tight spots...

Jaq, Darryn, you both continue in the tunnel for quite some time, you feel like you should be exiting the city itself soon at this rate.

However, at about that point you both get a sudden and unstoppable wave of tiredness, and quickly pass out.

Congratulations, you both have survived the Prologue.

Harv, well...I'd tell you how you died, but you let the Black take you. It's hard to remember things when that happens. All you know for certain is that the Black took you, and then shortly thereafter, the Void swallowed you whole.
